Jakarta – Anies Baswedan’s loyalist, Geisz Chalifah, also commented on the naming of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri as a suspect in an extortion case. Geisz recalled the time when Anies Baswedan was still serving as the Governor of DKI Jakarta, and KPK questioned Anies.
At that time, KPK under the leadership of Firli Bahuri, attempted to investigate allegations of corruption in the organization of the Formula E event. It is known that the electric car racing event was an idea from Anies Baswedan, who was the Governor of DKI Jakarta at that time.
Anies was questioned by the KPK several times. According to Geisz, at that time Anies was questioned for more than 9 hours. “Anies wants to be accused in a fabricated way. More than 9 hours of questioning,” Geisz said in his X account quoted on Friday, November 24, 2023.
At that time, according to Geisz, many people helped pray for Anies so that he could overcome the difficulties. Many people prayed for Anies to be spared from injustice. “Millions of people from quiet places pray for Anies to be spared from injustice. They recite the Asygil prayer,” wrote Geisz.
Currently, Geisz seems to prove that Anies is not guilty. Instead, the Chairman of the KPK who at that time vigorously questioned Anies, is now being named a suspect by the Jakarta Metro Police.
“Now the KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri has been named a suspect in the extortion case!,” concluded Geisz.
It is known that the Jakarta Metro Police escalated the status of the alleged extortion case committed by the head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in handling corruption cases at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) in 2021 to an investigation.

Firli Bahuri’s denial
Allegations that the KPK leadership extorted money from SYL were speculated to be directed at Firli Bahuri. Moreover, a photo of Firli with SYL circulated on a badminton court.
Firli explained the circulation of a photo of his meeting with SYL that caused a stir in the public. The photo circulated after the KPK investigated allegations of corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture during SYL’s era. Meanwhile, there were attempts to report allegations of extortion by the KPK leadership to the Jakarta Metro Police. SYL has been questioned by the Jakarta Metro Police, a few days ago.
Firli explained that the meeting took place before the alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) occurred. He said the meeting took place in March 2022, a year ago.
“The meeting on the badminton court between me and the Minister of Agriculture at that time, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, occurred before that period, precisely around March 2, 2022. And it was in a public place,” said Firli in his statement on Monday, October 9, 2023.
