Prabowo Subianto to Chinese Business Leaders: Collaboration Is the Path to Peace, Not Confrontation

Beijing – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to peaceful collaboration with major powers in the region, including China, as the preferred path forward.

Speaking at the 2024 Indonesia-China Business Forum in Beijing on Sunday (November 10), Prabowo highlighted the strong commitment between Indonesia and China to continue fostering collaboration and synergy across multiple sectors, following his state visit and meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“[Collaboration and synergy] in education, business, industry, and between business actors—this gives us a very optimistic and bullish outlook,” Prabowo stated.

He underscored that close cooperation between Indonesia and China could be a stabilizing force, creating an atmosphere conducive to regional cooperation.

“We must set an example: in this modern era, collaboration, not confrontation, is the path to peace. Indonesia has always remained non-aligned, showing respect to all major powers globally,” he emphasized.

Through the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth $10.07 billion between Indonesian and Chinese companies, Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s openness to further investments.

“Today is highly strategic, with agreements worth $10 billion. This is substantial. We are open to more investments and will work hard to foster a supportive cooperative environment,” Prabowo added.

Prabowo expressed his belief that through collaboration and mutual understanding, true prosperity can be achieved, as peace is the foundation for lasting success.

“Only peace can bring prosperity. Let us work for mutual understanding, peace, and prosperity for our people, for all of Asia, and the world. Thank you. Long live our friendship,” Prabowo concluded.

The Indonesia-China Business Forum 2024, organized by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s China Committee (KIKT), saw approximately 20 companies from Indonesia and China sign cooperation agreements totaling $10.07 billion. The agreements cover advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, healthcare, downstream industries, food security, and finance. (RR)
