Pinrang – SU (51), a man from Pinrang District, South Sulawesi, took the risk of assaulting his wife’s lover, AB (53), by slashing him with a machete. SU carried out the assault because he was jealous of his wife’s affair with the victim.
The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Pinrang Police, Iptu Akhmad Risal, said that the assault was carried out by the perpetrator by slashing the victim’s head after catching his wife cheating.
“He assaulted the victim by slashing his head after catching his wife alone with another man,” said Akhmad when confirmed on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
He explained that the incident started when the perpetrator was looking for his wife to discuss the continuation of their marriage after they stopped sleeping together. However, when the perpetrator arrived at a boarding house in Paleteang, he caught his wife being intimate with another man in one of the rooms. Consequently, the perpetrator became emotional and immediately attacked the victim and his wife by slashing their heads.
“At first, he only wanted to meet his wife to talk about the continuation of their marriage, because they had stopped sleeping together. But when he arrived at the boarding house, he found a man who was allegedly his wife’s lover in the room. That’s when the perpetrator became emotional and assaulted them,” explained Akhmad.
As a result of the assault, the victim of his wife’s affair suffered open wounds on his head and was taken to the hospital. The wife also suffered several injuries.
“There are wounds on the victim’s head caused by the perpetrator’s machete. He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment,” he said.
The police, upon receiving the report, immediately arrested the perpetrator on Sunday, December 24th. The perpetrator confessed to assaulting them because of his emotions and jealousy upon finding out about his wife’s affair.
“The perpetrator was immediately arrested after the incident. He has also admitted to his actions. His motive was because he felt emotional and jealous knowing that the victim was dating or having an affair with his wife,” he said.
Currently, the perpetrator is undergoing questioning at the Pinrang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
