Kepemimpinan Militer: Jenderal Besar TNI Sudirman

General Sudirman has left a remarkable legacy as the first Commander of the TNI, providing future generations of TNI soldiers with a tradition of heroism. His character and actions exemplified that of a true warrior-leader, instilling self-esteem and pride in the TNI.

Born in Purbalingga on January 24, 1916, Sudirman was initially a teacher before joining the Indonesian Independence movement. As a PETA battalion leader, he played a crucial role in pushing British forces out of Magelang and securing central Java for the Indonesian Republic.

Despite facing severe tuberculosis and having only one functioning lung, Sudirman led guerrilla warfare against the Dutch during their surprise attack on Yogyakarta in 1948. While many leaders chose not to resist, Sudirman’s fierce resistance boosted the morale of the nation and eventually led to victory.

His exemplary decisions and unwavering courage have cemented the TNI’s reputation as a force that prioritizes the nation’s interests over all else. Sudirman’s actions serve as a reminder of the sacrifices necessary for the honor and glory of the nation.
