A number of Red and White Cabinet ministers convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the situation of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The meeting, led by Prabowo, aimed to find solutions for the affected workers. Key attendees included Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo emphasized the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the importance of addressing the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new operational framework in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s initiatives to potentially rehire former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to offering support and guidance is anticipated to bring relief to PT Sritex employees impacted by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group workers, ensuring they receive layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new plan, ultimately facilitating the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This initiative aims to stabilize the affected employees and provide a resolution to their current circumstances.
